CGC Makes Major Changes to Certification Testing

For 2012, the CGC Board has approved moving to online testing center locations with ExamSoft, which will be effective as of 2/1/12. Please note that no exams will be scheduled from now until 2/1/12.

In addition, CGC applicants will be required to submit to a criminal background check, employment verification and educational verification. This verification process does include additional fees for each applicant. We are in the process of setting-up the applications and processes for these new procedures, which will be posted to the CGC website by the end of January.

Also, note that the application fees for the National exam and state specific exams will also be increased to $275, excluding the state of TX. The application fee for NMG exam will be increased to $525. For recertification with CGC, the cost for the NCG recertification will be $175, and the NMG recertification fee will be $250.

Please feel free to contact Lesley Richards, CGC Certification Coordinator, if you have additional questions about the new procedures for 2012.

What's New?
On October 13 – 15, the ten National Guardianship Network sponsoring organizations, with eleven diverse cosponsors, convened the Third National Guardianship Summit at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in Salt Lake City. With 92 delegates, observers, authors, funders and facilitators participating, the Summit was a consensus conference on post-appointment guardian performance and decision-making for adults. The Summit delegates adopted a far-reaching set of recommendations for Guardian Standards, as well as additional Recommendations for action by courts, legislatures and other entities. These documents from the Summit offer the groundwork for nationally recognized standards for guardians of adults. Please click here for a pdf copy of the "summit standards and recommendations" . The Standards and Recommendations were adopted by vote of the plenary session based on recommendations of the Summit’s seven interdisciplinary working groups. Go
